Stairs on both sides of the street for the entire length of the block.
The north end of the block at the top of the hill is blocked off to
vehicles, making the street almost entirely pedestrian only, except
for the occasional vehicle coming down from Fresno Street. The spot
at the top of the hill where the street is blocked off is identified by
a plaque as being named Rosie the Riveter Plaza.
This block of Kearny Street was renamed in 2000 to honor
Peter Macchiarini, a renowned North Beach jeweler and sculptor.
