Notable for having a pair of slides next to the stairs. The slides and seating area at Winfield Street are now known as Esmeralda Slide Park.
The slides have recently been improved with planters and new wood steps on the south side, replacing the bare dirt that used to surround them.

Built in the early 1970s, along with the other two Esmeralda Avenue stairways on this side of the hill. The slides were built a few years later, opening on February 6th, 1979. February-March 1979 issue of the Bernal Journal with a photo of then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein on the slides.
