The 22nd Street Jungle Stairs project was started in 2012 to beautify the
stairs by maintaining and landscaping the gardens around the steps, including
the planting of native vegetation. This project also includes the stairway on
the other side of Collingwood Street, known as
Jungle Stairs East.
The first phase of work was completed in 2014, and work is still ongoing.
The stairs were originally built around 1926.
